General Description:
The Lobby Assistant plays a key role in ensuring a smooth volunteer experience by guiding volunteers through the initial check-in process and ensuring adherence to Houston Food Bank (HFB) guidelines. This position focuses on providing direction, enforcing safety protocols, and assisting volunteers in securing personal items.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Direction and Assistance:
o Greet and direct volunteers from the back parking lot to the lobby, check-in lines, locker areas, and restrooms.
o Provide clear guidance to ensure volunteers follow the proper flow from arrival to check-in.
2. Locker Assistance:
o Help volunteers store their personal items in the complimentary lockers provided by HFB, ensuring their belongings are secure before proceeding to the project area.
3. Footwear Guidance:
o Identify volunteers wearing improper footwear and inform them about the availability of "Crocs and Socks" as an alternative to meet safety requirements.
4. Enforce Personal Item and Drink Policy:
o Stop volunteers from bringing drinks or personal items (such as bags) beyond the glass doors leading to the project area, ensuring all participants comply with HFB safety policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear and friendly directions.
· Good attention to detail in enforcing policies.
· Comfortable assisting volunteers with personal belongings and addressing safety issues.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
Preferred Experience:
· Experience in customer service or volunteer coordination.
· Familiarity with safety protocols in volunteer or workplace environments.
