Description of Duties
The Houston Food Bank is activating multiple large-scale Neighborhood Super Sites to meet urgent community needs. At this site, we will serve approximately 10,000 families by distributing essential groceries including produce, grains, protein, and dairy. As an Apple Core Leader (ACL), your leadership, reliability, and production experience are especially valued in helping ensure these high-impact operations run safely and efficiently.

ACL Role Expectations
ACLs may be asked to support:

  • Flow management and line monitoring

  • Assisting Production Leads with distribution operations

  • Providing guidance to general volunteers

  • Helping maintain a safe and positive environment for all participants

Your presence helps set the tone and model best practices for volunteer teams.

Attire & Preparation
This assignment is outdoors, and comfort/safety are essential. Please arrive in:

  • Your ACL shirt (required)

  • Weather-appropriate, modest clothing (T-shirt or polo, longer shorts or jeans)

  • Closed-toe, comfortable shoes (required — no heels, sandals, or open-toed shoes)

    SPECIAL NOTES
    • Must be able to safely lift 20 lbs or more
    • Entire shift is outdoors — bring water, hat, gloves, and sunscreen
    • ACLs are expected to model professionalism, safety, and teamwork throughout the shift
