Role Overview:
The Apple Corps Experience Leaders are the backbone of the Houston Food Bank’s volunteer workforce. These dedicated individuals receive comprehensive training and coaching to become certified project experts, leading the production-level aspects of our operations. By committing to a minimum of six months, Experience Leaders ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of our food distribution efforts, playing a critical role in our mission to fight hunger in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision:
Oversee and guide volunteer teams during food sorting, packing, and distribution activities.
Ensure that all tasks are performed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Houston Food Bank standards.
Provide support and direction to volunteers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Training and Certification:
Participate in comprehensive training programs and coursework designed to develop expertise in specific project areas.
Complete certification processes to become recognized as a project expert within the organization.
Stay updated on best practices and procedures, ensuring all operations meet safety and quality standards.
Project Management:
Manage the logistics and workflow of production-level activities, from receiving donations to preparing them for distribution.
Monitor inventory levels, track project progress, and report on outcomes to ensure goals are met.
Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in food bank operations.
Community Engagement:
Serve as an ambassador for the Houston Food Bank, promoting its mission and encouraging community involvement.
Educate volunteers about the impact of their work and the importance of their contributions.
Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
Commitment:
Commit to a minimum of six months, providing consistency and reliability to the Houston Food Bank’s operations.
Dedicate time to training, coursework, and certification processes, as well as regular volunteer shifts.
Qualifications:
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and motivate volunteer teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Passionate about the mission of the Houston Food Bank and committed to making a positive impact.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures.
