Student Heroes are invited to participate in an exciting, interactive leadership experience: the Student Advocacy Challenge!
This event is designed to empower high school students to turn their passion into action through creativity, collaboration, and community advocacy. Whether you're a current Student Hero or simply looking to make a difference, this opportunity will provide valuable insight into how youth voices can drive meaningful change.
What to Expect:
- Learn from the Pros: Hear from Houston Food Bank’s Government Relations team and gain practical tools to turn your ideas into real-world advocacy
- 60-Second Pitch Challenge: Work in small groups to design and present a social media advocacy concept (TikTok, Instagram, Reel, etc.)
- Creative Collaboration: Build leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Prizes: Top strategies and pitches will be recognized
Lunch will be provided. No prior experience required—just bring your creativity and voice.
Volunteer Impact:
Support youth leadership development while engaging in meaningful conversations around community advocacy and social change.
Requirements:
- Must be a high school student (Student Heroes encouraged)
- Wear Student Hero shirt and badge (if applicable)
- Arrive on time and remain for full duration
- Actively participate in group activities
