Thank you for choosing to serve with the Houston Food Bank. Your leadership and dedication are essential to advancing our mission of Food for Better Lives. We are grateful for your generous donation of time and your commitment to strengthening our community.


Arrival:

Student Heroes must arrive 30minutes prior to the start of the shift (e.x. arrive at 8:30 AM for the 9:00 AM shift).

You have a 15-minute grace period to arrive at the Dedicated Volunteer Hub (e.x. must arrive by 8:45 AM) - Student Heroes who arrive later than the grace period will not be allowed to volunteer for that shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

Student Heroes are expected to assist HFB personnel by leading, supervising, and supporting volunteers during assigned projects. Duties may include:

Lead and facilitate projectSet up the project area with required materials before volunteers' arrival.Complete the startup and shutdown procedure.Engage with volunteers while solving any uprising problems



Attire

Closed-toe shoes and appropriate volunteer attire are expected.

Volunteer: Trinity River CRC Friday


The Trinity River Community Resource Center (CRC), is a vital extension of the Houston Food Bank's mission to combat food insecurity in Liberty, Trinity, San Jacinto, and Walker counties. This center offers a free, neighbor-choice market providing nutritious food, including fresh produce and shelf-stable items, and connects individuals to additional resources such as SNAP, Medicaid, and other benefits. 

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers are essential to the CRC's operations. Apple Core Leaders interested in volunteering can participate in the following shifts:

Tuesday & Thursday and Saturday:9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Stocking, sorting, pantry preparation and distributions.

These roles involve tasks such as organizing food items, preparing the pantry for distribution, and directly assisting community members during distribution hours.
