The welcome desk is looking for friendly faces to greet volunteers and community members. These ACLs are the first impression that people have when walking into the food bank. The duties are as follows:

Checking in volunteers using Civicore Entering data from paper sign-in sheets Printing hour verification forms Preparing hour verification documents for an HFB employee to sign  Unlocking lockers for those who have been locked out Contacting various departments through Microsoft Teams when people arrive for appointments or meetings Directing community members to various rooms for meetings Other duties as assigned by Volunteer Services Leadership

This center offers a free, neighbor-choice market providing nutritious food, including fresh produce and shelf-stable items, and connects individuals to additional resources such as SNAP, Medicaid, and other benefits. 

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers are essential to the CRC's operations. Apple Core Leaders interested in volunteering can participate in the following shifts:

Tuesday & Thursday and Saturday:9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Stocking, sorting, pantry preparation and distributions.

These roles involve tasks such as organizing food items, preparing the pantry for distribution, and directly assisting community members during distribution hours.

● Welcome regular shift volunteers in the lobby and walk back to the project area. Always remind them for safety purposes no cell phones or drinks while walking in the warehouse. Introduce yourself, give the volunteers a brief introduction on what activities will be happening throughout the shift and specific instructions on their tasks.
● Check and log refrigerator temperatures AM.
● Ensure shelves and cooling units are stocked for the neighbors to shop. If items are missing, lead traditional volunteers to complete this task.
● Ensure the area is clean, organized and welcoming to provide the best experience for neighbors shopping.
● Assign volunteers to specific tasks for the neighbors shopping experience process and support as needed.
● Monitor the distributions while engaging with neighbors to strengthen relationships, capture feedback and share ways to improve our process.
● Coordinate alternating 15 min. breaks for the volunteers.
● Move the identified pallets in/out the CRC space as needed for project builds.
● Ensure all trash and cardboard is taken to the back dock and recorded in the system.
● Thank the volunteers, provide impact numbers for the shift, remind them how wonderful they are for donating their time and walk them back to the lobby.
● Delegate tasks on cleaning log and ensure log is signed.
● Ensure closing log is completed and signed.
● Set the iPad back to charge

Volunteers will assist with meal prep work (i.e. slicing, cutting, stirring, etc.) and the packaging of hot meals for daily distribution to Kids Cafe sites.  The kind of work you'll do varies from day to day, so please be flexible about your work station - we might need to reassign you so we can work more efficiently!  Please plan to stay for the entire volunteer shift to ensure meal production goals are met each shift.You must wear closed-toed shoes. Please be free of all accessories when entering the kitchen. You will be required to tie up your hair and wear a hairnet / beard net.

Program: Kid's Cafe
